No matter how optimistic you are or how great your life is, there will be a time when you don't feel too hot. Whenever you feel down, it's important to have a plan to help lift you back up and continue being the best version of yourself.
Below are three ways that you can be the best you can be even when you feel down. Not only will these tips help you continue being the best version of yourself, but they may even improve your mood in the process.
1. Move
Whenever you feel down, find a way to incorporate lightweight movement and exercise into your day. A light walk, gentle yoga, or even easy stretching will suffice.
Moving will get your blood pumping and help your body to produce hormones and chemicals related to mood improvement. Not to mention, exercising helps you to stay your best.
2. Breathe
In addition to moving, try practicing breathing techniques. Breathing techniques increase oxygen flow throughout your body, slow your heart rate, improve your blood pressure, and help a number of other functions of your body. As a result, you might begin to feel better, and you are still working towards creating the best version of yourself, even when you feel bad.
One of the best breathing techniques, when you feel bad, is as follows: inhale for four seconds, hold for five seconds, and exhale for seven seconds. Repeat as many times as desired.
3. Do Something to Get in Touch With Your Emotions
If you feel down, it's important to get in touch with your emotions so that you can express how you feel and have a better day tomorrow. Do at least one thing to get in touch with your emotions so that you feel better. Some ways that you can do this are by journaling, drawing, or talking with your loved ones.
It's up to you to decide which activities are best for getting in touch with your emotions. Just make sure that the practice is healthy and allows you to express what you are feeling in a safe and calming environment.
When you feel bad, don't put your plans of becoming the best version of yourself on hold. Instead, use the three techniques above to improve your mood while still improving your overall self at the same time. Your future you will be grateful!
